Clio (W. Paul & Son, 1894): one of the most rampant, violently growing varieties I know, and viciously armed with thorns. The flowers come in clusters of three to seven and really ought to be disbudded, but I never have the heart to do it. They are a very light shade of flesh-pink, quite silvery, and sometimes milky-white. Fragrance is faint and just a little rank. This lovely rose is the favorite pasture of the rose-bug and suffers severely from its attacks. Wet weather also spoils the blooms, and severe heat scorches the buds so that they cannot open. I have never noted any fall bloom.
