Nola Simpson, New Zealand. Trial Ground Awards.
Two other roses pointed above Certificate of Merit standard, but as they are not going to be released in New Zealand by the agents, they cannot receive an award. One was a brilliant golden floribunda by Christensen, USA. An ideal bedding rose, very healthy, always in bloom, and colour stability exceptional, with little fading noted.
The other rose, 'Drummer Boy', by Jack Harkness, is a very floriferous bright red dwarf floribunda, extremely healthy. It is a very crisp, clean looking rose and was never without flowers and is still blooming away merrily near the middle of May.
Book  (1988)  Page(s) 23.

E. F. Allen, Awards to Third Year Rose Seedlings in Great Britain in 1987.
Drummer Boy ['Wee Man' x ('Southampton' x 'Darling Flame') x 'Letchworth Garden City']. This is a dwarf (2 ft) Cluster Flower, by Harkness, with scarlet flowers which have petals of good substance and wrinkled edges. I think that it will be well received. Trial Ground Certificate.
