The rose amateur's guide - Part 1, Page 33 (1840) Thomas Rivers Duchesse d'Angouleme, or the Wax rose, is an old but deservedly a favourite variety: its colour is so delicate and its form so perfect, that it must always be admired ; the habit of the plant is most luxuriant, and rather more erect than most other members of the family.

It is interesting that the rose according to the description was raised in 1821 or ? 1835 by Vibert, but Rivers writing in 1840 already considered the rose as old. I planted it this year and it has already made strong and healthy growth.

American Rose Magazine, Volume 1922 p. 124 Paralleling this new arrangement of the variety tests, investigations are being started on the value of different rose-stocks by L. B. Scott and Guy E. Yerkes, in connection with their investigations on nursery stocks. The plan for the first year proposes to use as stocks Manetti, R. canina, Mme. Plantier, Seven Sisters; Wax Rose, Ragged Robin, R. cinnamomea, R. setigera, R. rugosa, R. multiflora cathayensis, R. Soulieana, R. multiflora polyantha (a vigorous type of R. multiflora), and some hybrids produced by the late Dr. Van Fleet, of R. setigera X R. Wichuraiana, and R. Jackii X R. Wichuraiana.

Possibly this reference should be placed under a synonym of 'Texas Wax' in R. Indica major.
