Breeder's notes:
This legendary Egyptian princess, wife of Akhnaton, king of Egypt in the 14th century B.C. was obviously unbelievably beautiful, as the sculptured head, on a long neck, considered to be one of the finest existing pieces of Egyptian art, shows. We have always been enamored by Nefertiti, and often conjecture what life in those days would have been like.
When we got a seedling from the cross Julien Potin x First Prize, which had long pointed buds of apricot peach opening to high centered flowers of bronze and wheaten gold, our daughter said, ‘The high neck and glowing color reminds me of Nefertiti. Why don’t you call this rose after the Egyptian beauty?’ So, that’s how this rose got its name.
