From its patent, "C'olor. When sepals first divide 0range, Plate 3. When petals begin to unfurl Capucine Orange, Plate 3. When half blown inside of petals-Light Cadmium, Plate 4; reverse of petals-Deep Chrome, Plate 3."

Cadmium is an old gold-orange to egg yolk color.

Tawny Gold made some pretty babies but it sure didn't last very long in commerce. It wasn't known as being very vigorous nor healthy. I attempted once to import it from Germany. What came was a scentless pink HT like a First Prize or something. It's the pits when you get something mis shipped on an import order. IF you can get it corrected, it takes a year to do it.
