My mother is Evona York. We lost this rose many years ago and are looking to replace it. Does anyone have one or know of where it is being grown? Originally, the rose was given to the Huntington. Vintage Gardens used to sell it commercially. It was later discovered to be a previously known rose and stopped being marketed as "Evona's Gallica." Unfortunately, neither the Huntington nor Vintage Gardens has record of what the name of that rose is. If you have this information, please post here. Whether it's named after my mother or not, we would love to have it again. - Thank you

Hi Chez, I'm Kim Rupert. Way back in the early 1980s I created a garden in Granada Hills on a corner lot. One day, a lady walked into the garden and knocked on the door. She identified herself as Evona, your mother. It was my only meeting with her. We talked roses and The Huntington for nearly an hour until her next bus connection time arrived. She said she'd seen the development on her travels and made time to check it out. We knew a few people in common through The Huntington. Ironic how small the rose world was and is, isn't it?
