Book (1915) Page(s) 40. "Rugosa Roses" by H. R. Darlington, Hon. Secretary N. R. S. Le Cid (Vigneron, 1906). I have found this Rose somewhat disappointing. It is described as bright crimson, but the flowers borne by my plant have been a dull reddish rose, semi-double. It has not developed proper berries. The parentage is given as Conrad F. Meyer x Belle Poitevine.

Le Cid (Rugosa). — Arbuste vigoureux et touffu, feuillage vert très foncé luisant, fleur très grande, pleine, d’un très beau coloris rose vermillon, superbe. La fleur, l’une des plus larges de cette section, est portée par un pédoncule très ferme et est généralement seule. Issue de Conrad Ferdinand Meyer et de Belle Poitevine. ....Ces quatre Rosiers sont mis au commerce par M. Vigneron, horticulteur, à Olivet (Loiret). (1) Les descriptions des Rosiers nouveaux que nous publions ont été rédigés par les obtenteurs. Ils sont généralement cotes de 15 à 25 francs pièce.
