In 1928 [Mathias Tantau, the elder] introduced a successful rose, 'Johanna Tantau' which he called a Polyantha, although we should see it as a Floribunda... white with some pink and yellow at the centre, the flowers borne in clusters...

Johanna Tantau (Hybrid polyantha) is the result of a similar cross [as Johanna Röpcke] and is in effect a miniature Ophelia, opening pink and paling to white. The flowers are large, nicely shaped and double, borne in clusters and freely produced upon plants of low, spreading habit. Tantau 1928....Short growth. Moderately fragrant...July-September. Hardy.
