An exhibit of great interest was that from A. Noordan, of Aalsmeer. It was marked "wholesale only" but it collected a crowd most of the time. Small wonder, for 'Poinsettia' is a breathtaking scarlet, and 'Orange Delight' a clear orange of a shade I know well enough in dahlias but had not met before in Roses.

Koningen Juliana: A vivid bicolour with nicely pointed scented flowers of good size. The reverse of each petal is a rich golden shade, while the inner surface is scarlet crimson. [?] The growth is hard stemmed and healthy.

Harry Hazlewood. NSW. The New Roses of 1951. 'Koningin Juliana' (Verschuren Pechtold, 1948). Large broad petals of capucine orange with a veined reddish reverse which build up a semi-double to double fragrant bloom sometimes up to exhibition form. It is a most attractive and rich colour. According to records this variety was also known as 'Meerzicht Glory' in Holland. Although named after the crowned head of Holland (an ally of American in the last war) the name was changed in U.S.A. to 'Orange Delight'. Apparently commercial considerations over-ride International courtesies. (Incidentally a Hybrid Polyantha rose was sent out by Buisman in the same year also called 'Koningin Juliana'.
