Conflicting discoverers, and dates, are mentioned in the references. There may have been two climbing sports discovered, (UK and Australia) but there is not enough evidence so far to support this.
Josephine Bruce (CL) is mentioned by Peter Beales in his book "Roses, an illustrated encyclopedia" 1985 - 1992, ISBN 0-00-272178-3 on page 414. He writes" Bees UK 1954 as the finder ; 'Crimson Glory' x 'Madge Whipp" (note the spelling) . He says the fragrance is Very Fragrant.. He says it is better than the bush form. He also repeats most of these comments, including about the scent, in his book "Classic Roses", 1865 ISBN 0-00-272708-0, page 388
There were frequently parallel climbing sports of older modern roses reported from various parts of the world. Particularly for the weaker growers, comments were common that the flower form, color, shape and quantity, the climbing form was deemed to be superior to the less vigorous bush form.
