I have found the secret to successfully growing this rose----at least for me. This rose does not like a lot of pruning. I just shape it a little and thin it a little and cut off any dead wood. The one size fits all principle in pruning is a non starter in my garden. Some roses do well with a heavy pruning and others don't. This should be another attribute to consider in the description of the rose on HMF. Many of the comments on the Peace rose suggest that this is another rose that doesn't like heavy pruning. It is something to consider and try when a particular rose consistently fails to prosper.

We have adjusted the growing notes for 'Anvil Sparks' to say don't prune too much.
'Peace' also has notations in the growing notes. I recall reading that one should preserve the main canes of this rose.
Thanks for your contribution today jmile.

This rose seems to get more vigor and less disease the longer it is in the ground. It is still blooming---it never stopped even in our wet December. What a trooper. It will never have the most beautiful foliage, but its blooms are spectacular.
