My GC is in its third year and I love it! It grows at the back of the border against a fence and I have allowed it to grow in its naturally lax arching shape, rather than choosing to tie it in to grow upwards. As a result it is about 5 feet tall and at least 7 feet wide in an open shape which allows underplanting. The scent is variable - sometimes slight and at others deliciously heavy ripe nectarines and sweet wine.

I have had Golden Celebration for 10 yrs now as a potted bush. I cannot believe how vigorous this rose bush is. I live in Zone 9 ( not sure a or b??) Central Coast Ca-( Salinas) and I do absolutely nothing to this plant and it still amazes me on how many blooms it produces! There was period of 3 yrs that I neglected it while have babies and not even pruned the thing or pruned so late in the season and it still produced flushes of flowers. No disease, very fragrant, beautiful yellow to mustard yellow color, beautifully cupped flowers that vary in med size and although stems are week as pp mentioned the plant looks beautiful like a chandalier. It has slowly grown to be one of my favorites(because it is yellow, which is not my favorite color). It is near perfect, the only down side is that as a cut flower it doesn't last very long in a vase. I think everyone should have a Golden Celebration in their collection. It is one of the best color of yellow outhere in my opinion. It's a beauty.

Here in north central Massachusetts (zone 5, but can slip towards 4), Golden Celebration was a vigorous, fragrant, healthy plant. Winter die back was nearly 100% each year, but nonetheless, ours regenerated to a height of 6-7 feet every year, with one glorious bloom at end of june/early July, then several smaller displays later in August. Best if staked on a trellis; see Wendy's comment on stem strength. One thing to watch out for with this one is Japanese beatles; they love this rose, and can do serious damage if left unchecked.
I nicknamed mine "extravagant desert", because it smelled & looked that good. After several tricky winters in a row, mine finally gave up last year, but I'm thinking of getting a few more this year.

Golden Celebration is a vigorous, healthy rose in my garden. It's only fault is the blossoms are often borne on weak stems allowing the large blooms to nod so it's hard to properly see them. It has proven to be a Winter hardy variety, which can get very large despite harsh Winters.
