The attribution of this rose to Luigi Aicardi is confirmed by a 1958 reference (Catalogo Fratelli Giacomasso - Rose)

Modern Roses V and VI report that Superba, unlike many roses bred by Domenico Aicardi, was bred by Luigi Aicardi, San Remo, Italy. Luigi gave his contribution also to the breeding of Principe di Napoli (by Aicardi Brothers, San Remo, Italy)

We have added Luigi Aicardi to Breeders. Is there any reference in Italian on him?

I found this reference "The Rose annual 1981 page 114 ... His father, a physician attached to the Italian Railways, finally settled in San Remo. There Domenico, with the help of his brother Luigi, became a carnation grower and hybridist.".

This seems to be an interesting article on Italian rose-breeding.
