'Sharon Louise' rose References
Book (2013) Page(s) 89. Marguerite Parkes. 'Sharon Louise' (HT, Parkes, 1968). This rose is such a good grower, and with its masses of blooms, it is rewarding for beginners to grow. Its blush pink outer petals surround a deeper pink centre. I still grow 'Sharon Louise' and the oldest bush I have is the very first of this rose. At almost sixty years, it still amazes me with its long stems topped with multiple, well formed blooms....

Book (Dec 1998) Page(s) 544. Includes photo(s). ‘Sharon Louise’. Modern, large flowered Hybrid Tea, white, repeat-flowering. The ovoid buds of ‘Sharon Louise’ open to near-white, double flowers with a pale blush pink center. The delicately fragrant blooms are borne one to a stem, and have good flower form suitable for cutting for indoors. Flower production is profuse and the repeat cycle is fairly fast. The foliage is dark leathery green on a vigorous, upright plant that can reach 3-5 ft (1-1.5m) high. It prefers a warm and sunny climate, where it will provide an abundance of bloom, and makes a neat hedge or border. Good soil is an advantage in growing this rose, as is a regular mulch and frequent watering. Zones 5-11. Parkes, Australia, 1968. ‘Queen Elizabeth’ x ‘Virgo’.

Book (1996) p60 Mr. Richard Walsh, NSW. Mrs. Parkes’ ‘Sharon Louise’ is another Australian rose that I grow, and is the most delicate of pinks, healthy and vigorous, flat blooms with a sweet rather than strong perfume. It makes a lovely decorative rose and I would recommend it, as I do all the varieties I grow.
