Are the flowers and leaves much bigger (ie at least twice the size) of those of the bush form? Or have I got a cuckoo in the nest?

This is a good question Margaret. I have grown for several years a rose I purchased labeled 'Cl. Softee'.

My specimens don't seem to get much taller than 3'- 4'. I would have to seek out regular 'Softee' and grow it beside my other specimen to be sure.

Sequoia Nsy. insists that they never distributed a rose called 'Cl. Softee'.

How tall does 'Softee' get for you?

Both my plants are young, in their second spring in the ground. I have seen an excellent hedge of Softee about 3-4' high.

Margaret, unless your climbing version attains a greater height I think we can assume we both have the original version. I have a feeling someone mislabeled some specimens at one time and the myth of 'Cl. Softee' took off from there. I wish 'Softee' would sport to a truly climbing version. It's a wonderful rose. Thanks, Robert
