A first variety, obtained by Sommesson, at Paris, was named "Abailard" and commercialized by Descemet before 1815. It was pink ("rose"); and is found in the Rosetum gallicum of Desportes in 1828... It was still in the collection of the jardin du Luxembourg towards 1852-1860. Then, in 1845...Vibert took the same name to christen a new gallica he obtained. It is this second rose today that we now under the name "Abailard"....
