Origin:
Bred by Charles Mallerin (France, before 1940).
Introduced in France by Meilland et Cie in 1940 as 'Trylon'.
Introduced in United States by Conard-Pyle (Star Roses) in 1945 as 'Shining Star'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea, Pernetiana.  
Bloom:
Deep yellow, carmine-red shading.  Chrome yellow.  Moderate, fruity fragrance.  Very large, double (17-25 petals), open bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Habit:
Dark green, leathery foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Trylon was a modernistic structure at the 1939 New York World's Fair, designed by architects Wallace Harrison and J. Andre Fouilhoux. The 610 ft spire-shaped Trylon was the longest lift of the time.
