To me, it seems most plausible that the rose in commerce now as Le Vésuve is actually Climbing Le Vésuve introduced by Guillot in 1904. The color description is far more accurate to the plant now grown, from the vigorous, bushy growth to the bloom color, variable from soft pink centers to carmine red edges.
