Dingee Guide to Rose Culture, Dingee & Conard Co., 1916, page 31. “One of the handsomest of the Hybrid Teas, growing into a stout, vigorous, hardy bush, bearing all summer great numbers of gorgeous, silvery carmine Roses with salmon shadings. The coloring is distinct and unique, and the Rose is a handsome tribute to him whose name it bears.”

Dean Hole - No 24 of 1912 Wills Cigarette Rose Cards (set of 50) Text on reverse of card: DEAN HOLE. (Hybrid Tea.) The flowers are very large, of great substance, and perfect shape, produced freely and continuously throughout the summer and autumn. Vigorous in habit of growth, and quite hardy, it was awarded the gold medal of the National Rose Society in 1904, and also the Nickerson Cup as the best rose in the Hybrid Tea section introduced since 1900.
