Bred by Hippolyte Duval (France, before 1830).
Introduced in Australia by John J. Rule, Victoria Nursery in 1858 as 'Louis-Philippe'.
Class:
Damask Perpetual.  
Bloom:
Crimson, dark purple shading.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals) bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:

Notes:
Louis-Philippe, King of France. Born 6 October 1773 at the Palace Royale, France. Died 26 October 1850.
