Book (2001) Page(s) 118. Gerard Williams. Final Analysis 2000-2001 Romeo (MACtual) McGredy 1995; 'Howard Morrison' x 'Harmonie'; deep red large flowers and dark green foliage; 40 reports on 53 bushes; 1.2 metres. 7.1 rating. A healthy rose but it can take a while to get established. Slight perfume to the large blooms. Some like it as an exhibition but most find it at its best as a fully open bloom. Can have weak stems and repeat can be slow.
Book (2000) Page(s) 102. Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1999-2000 Season. Romeo (MACtual) McGredy 1995; 'Howard Morrison' x 'Harmonie'; deep red flowers; 12 reports on 16 bushes; 2-4 years; 1.3 metres; 7.1 rating. Medium sized plant with large flowers and dark green foliage. Gisborne likes the big heads and nice foliage. North Otago found their bush healthy, but the repeat was slow and the flowers burn in the strong sun. Paeroa felt the growth was slow and so was the repeat, but they do like the flower. Marlborough feel it is at its best as a fully open bloom. North Taranaki says their rose is excellent and that it flowers prolifically. Northland found the growth to be average, but the blooms are nice when fully open, sometimes a bit heavy for the stem. Southland likes the bloom, but feel there were not enough of them.
Book (1999) Page(s) 96. Gerard Williams. Review of the Newer Roses for the 1998-1999 Season. Romeo (MACtual). McGredy 1995. 'Howard Morrison' x 'KORtember'. Deep red; 6 reports on 8 plants; 2-3 years; 1.2 metres; 6.8 rating. Medium sized plant with large flowers and dark green foliage. Not a lot of enthusiasm for this deep red HT. North Otago says a large velvet red but with few blooms. Te Awamutu find the growth good and the foliage healthy. Flowers are lovely half to three quarters open and are perfumed, but they would like a few more. Northland feel it is a so-so rose but the blooms are nice fully open. Marlborough aren't having much luck with their rose. Bay of Plenty find the necks weak and the blooms droop. Gisborne also find weak necks and the blooms blow quickly.

Book (1998) Page(s) 96. Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1997-98 Season. Romeo (MACtual); McGredy 1995; 'Howard Morrison' x 'KORtember'; deep red; 6 reports on 7 plants; 1 -3 years; 1.0 metre; 6.6 rating. Not a great deal of enthusiasm shown for this deep red HT by reports so far, most think the flowers are rather floppy and the growth leaves a lot to be desired. Paeroa finds the stems weak, growth slow, the large flowers are quite attractive. Northland says it is taking time to settle, makes good full opens. North Taranaki is disappointed with only a few blooms to date. Golden Bay has been troubled with downy mildew, split centres and floppy blooms. North Otago finds it does best growing in partial shade, blooms are large in a velvety red colour, repeat very slow.
Book (1997) Page(s) 93. Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1996-97 Season. 'Romeo (MACtual); McGredy 1995; 'Howard Morrison' x 'Harmonie'; deep red; 4 reports on 6 plants; 1 -2 years; 1.2 metres; 5.3 (interim) rating. Not a very good start for this new red with most of the comments derogatory. Feilding complains of poor plants and sprawly. Otago has been bothered with downy mildew, the buds went brown and did not open, and is still waiting for the first flower. Napier says it is a big red cabbage, full bloom is the best stage. Auckland says it has a good full open, large fragrant red, long neck tendency, healthy, does not like the way the leaves reflex makes it lose its balance.
