Later REFERENCES give 'Pourpre du Luxembourg' an introduction date of 1848, but there is an 1842 REFERENCE equating it with 'Ferugineuse', itself a synonym for 'Rouge du Luxembourg'. These may or may not have been 2 different roses.

In the 1844 catalogue for the Luxembourg gardens, Hardy lists a 'Mousseuse nouvelle du Luxembourg', as distinct from 'Mousseuse du Luxembourg', but there is no description of it, nor indication of what synonyms it may have had.
