American Rose Annual (1984) p. 37-43. BREEDING THORNLESS ROSES K. J. Nobbs Royal Flush, LCl, a cross of Little Darling x Suspense. A good seed parent for thornfree progeny — a pillar-type rose.

Thanks Karl. I've added more refs as well on 'Royal Flush'. I don't have the early NZ journals before 1999 so unfortunately the refs are not chronological.

It would appear from the references that the name 'Royal Flush' was applied to two different roses. One, by Mrs. Fuller of Baltimore, being white with pink edges, and the other, described by Mr. Nobbs as turkey red and orange, from Florida.

Mrs. Fuller moved from Baltimore to Florida in between 1980 and 1986. The parentages are the same in the 1980 and 2015 references. She used 'Little Darling' in her 1964 Cupid's Charm 1966 Color Girl 1970 Royal Flush 1972 'Bright Beam'
I just can't answer why Ken Nobbs described 'Royal Flush' as turkey-red, only that the roses in New Zealand are mind-bogglingly beautiful. I note he called the rose a Floribunda / Hybrid tea - and not a climber.
