‘Carol Ann’ = Ce polyantha nain est l’exemple type d’une série de variétés tendant à produire, par mutation, toute une gamme de coloris. La palette, très ouverte, va du saumon clair à l’écarlate en passant par divers tons de rose… ‘Carol Ann’ = fleurs saumon orangé, menues mais très doubles (jusqu’à 45 pétales), groupées en bouquets étonnament gros pour un arbuste aussi nain. Il est très utilisé en pot ou pour constituer de petites bordures. Vulnérable à l’oïdium en automne… Kluis, Pays-Bas, 1940.

In addition to the Hybrid Teas mentioned there is the usual influx of Polyanthas and Hybrid Polyanthas, most of them being sold under the trade name of Floribundas. The most important of these is a little Polyantha from Anthony Kluis, Holland, named Carol Ann. It is a ranunculus-shaped bloom of orange-brick and remains about a week in half open form before showing the inner petals. The plant is small and is a fine Polyantha.
