Singularly Beautiful Roses
Add reference. 1917 The Rose Annual of the National Rose Society. p. 162.
Golden Spray (H.T.) A garden Rose of unique habit and inflorescence, and in our opinion one of the most distinct and valuable Roses which we have yet raised. The growth is quite distinct from any known variety, the plant sending up long arching shoots which form great loose and elegant sprays, every bud of which opens in succession, to be succeeded by others from the base of the plant, which makes its season of flowering one of the longest of any garden Rose. The flowers in the bud state are very long and pointed and beautifully formed, of deep Marechal Niel yellow, opening to very large almost single blooms of great beauty and elegance, with a huge boss of prominent yellow anthers. When fully expanded the colour is clear lemon yellow. As a Rose for massing and bedding this variety far supersedes any Rose at present grown, and for cut flower, and particularly for decorative work, is unequalled, as the shoots can be cut with long stems, as the plants produce their shoots almost entirely from the base. Gold Medal, National Rose Society.

Would those interested in 'Golden Spray' please consider "Hatchell-Brown Yellow". I keep getting a cooked apple and clove mixture perfume from the foundling. The 'Golden Spray' 1926 reference mentioned an apple perfume.
