Crimson and red. Strong fragrance. Medium, double (17-25 petals), full (26-40 petals), quartered bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Height of 39" to 6' (100 to 185 cm). Width of 3' to 6' (90 to 185 cm).
USDA zone 4b through 8b. Prune after flowering is finished. This rose blooms on old wood.
English sources frequently attribute this rose to William Paul and assign the date 1848, which is the same year Paul published The Rose Garden.
