Jan Abbing HT Good, reliable rebloom. Outstanding fragrance. Very tall. Tantau, 1933. [provenance:] (San Jose Heritage Rose Gardens). This might perhaps have been considered a Grandiflora had it been introduced in the 1960s as it is a tall grower, large of flower, producing broad clusters of blooms, terracotta-rose with a faint orange underglow, orange at the base and veined with rose-pink. A child of Columbia and Étoile de Hollande.

Jan Abbing (Tantau, 1933) is after the style of 'Frau Luise Lindecke',  but not in any way superior. The yellow variations mentioned in the original description are not apparent until the bloom is fully open. Thirty-six petals.

New Roses 1935.  Jan Abbing (HT. M. Tantau 1933) 'Columbia' x 'Etoile de Hollande'. Colour brilliant salmon red with yellow variations. A lasting, effective colour rose that never becomes blue. The well formed bud develops into full, perfect shaped blooms. Dark green healthy foliage and robust, upright growth. Very floriferous and continuous throughout the season. 4/- each.
Cerise red, without any trace of yellow until the bloom is fully open. 36 petals.
