Final Analysis 1992-93.
City of Christchurch (MACoffer); McGredy 1988. ('Fragrant Cloud' x Seedling) x (Poulsen Seedling x 'Picasso'); coral vermilion; 26 reports on 30 bushes; 1-5 years; 1.1metres; 7.2 rating. A vigorous short growing rose which has been very subject to rust in many areas and some growers have discarded it on this count. Flowers are produced freely, an appealing coral vermilion in colour with some fading, they are shapely but small in size and unusual pointed petals. Does not stand the rain well and flowers rot. The blooms cut well for the vase and there is some fragrance. A good garden rose but has not captured the imagination with many, even Christchurch growers are not terribly enthused.

Nola Simpson. Review of Newer Roses for 1991-92 Season. Hybrid Teas.
City of Christchurch (MACoffer); McGredy 1988; ('Fragrant Cloud' x Seedling) x (Poulsen Seedling x 'Picasso'); coral vermillion; 9 reports on 11 bushes; 1-3 years; 1.1 metres; 7.1 rating. Not widely reported on this rose. I would have thought more Christchurch growers would have it. It has reasonable ratings from most, one Canterbury reporter has discarded because of bad rust infection, others say healthy, small neatly formed blooms, nice colour, good garden rose. A Nelson grower is disappointed as blooms fade quickly and rot in the rain.

Don Sheppard. Review of Newer Roses for 1990-91 Season
City of Christchurch. MACoffer. McGredy 1988; coral vermillion; ('Fragrant Cloud' x Seedling) x (Poulsens Seedling x 'Picasso'); 7 reports on 7 bushes; 1-2 years; 1.1 metre; 7.1 rating. Colour is great, bloom form great but small, with high centres and reflexing petals and a fragrance. Sounds just like Christchurch! Blooms come singly in spring; later in small clusters. There is a little fading. The bush is quite floriferous with well spaced foliage, but is definitely not a vigorous one. It is healthy.

Don Sheppard. Review of Newer Roses for 1989-90 Season
City of Christchurch. MACoffer; McGredy 1988 ('Fragrant Cloud' x Seedling) x ('Poulsens' Seedling x 'Picasso'); glowing vermillion; 3 reports; 4 bushes; 1-2 years; 1.1m; 7.2 rating. Form is very good, often of good size, often smallish, fragrance is good and the bush produces freely over the season. Blooms come on good long stems, singly and they cut for decoration very well. The bush grows well and is mostly healthy, though Bay of Plenty says rust worries it.
