Prince Bernhardt is attracting attention by its all-round performances. The shape is far from perfect, the buds being rather squat and the open flowers are inclined to be cupped, but they retain their colour very well and never seem to blemish, and the blooms do not mind the rain. It is a showy garden Rose.

Prince Bernhardt has grown quite strongly and is very free in bloom. It provides some bright colours and seems quite useful.

Van Rossem sent Prince Bernhard, with four-inch blooms of light red, rather loosely built, of 45 petals. Instead of fragrance, there was an odour which reminded me of the aroma of a wet spaniel. An upright plant with too much bareness helped to dampen enthusiasm.

Prince Bernhardt.- Moderate growth so far, but has produced some very nice blooms of good colour and which have a rich fragrance. I am expecting better results next year.

Prince Bernhardt, HT. (Van Rossem, 1938) arrived very late and has not yet had a fair chance. Blooms were of good colour, but lacked size and shape.

New Roses 1939. Prince Bernhardt (HT.  Van Rossem 1938) Long buds, opening to large, perfectly formed, intensely fragrant, red flowers, produced on strong stems. The growth is vigorous and the plants bloom freely. This variety secured the Medal for the most fragrant new rose in Holland in 1937. 5/- each.
