I have just added a 1971 reference which says this rose is/was extinct. Does the 2020 book Historical Roses in the Europa-Rosarium Sangerhausen (which I don’t have) say anything about Veitch’s 1900 ‘Electra’.

Anne Belovich's book on Ramblers lists 'Electra' as growing in Sangerhausen and Rosaraie du Val-de Marne. She credits Harald Enders as the photographer, probably taken at Sangerhausen.
It is possible that Boerner wished to use the name, so the ARS declared the rose by Veitch extinct.

'Electra' in L'Haÿ is a pink multiflora and thus mislabeled. 'Electra' still exists in Sangerhausen. The photo by Christiane Frost from 2004 seems to show the correct rose. The Book Historic Roses in Sangerhausen includes only OGRs and no ramblers. Finally, ARS has declared many roses as extinct, so that the name could be reused - and hey presto! one finds them in public gardens.

Thanks to you both. To do a little re-check on my presumed identification of my ‘Aglaia’ (I am quite sure this was correct) I have just plucked some dates out on some ramblers I grow (I don’t grow Electra) from H. H. Thomas The Rose Book 1913. However I am not sure whether he refers to first flowering, or peak flowering. June 08 Aglaia June 10 Gardenia June 10 Aviateur Bleriot June 15 Tea Rambler June 25 Veilchenblau June 30 Electra July 06 Crimson Rambler July 10 Excelsa July 15 Dorothy Perkins July 15 Hiawatha
Including the photograph date on all rambler photos for HelpMeFind is extremely valuable. Patricia - southern hemisphere.
