Origin:
Bred by John Cook & Son (United States, 1888).
Introduced in Australia by Anderson and Co. in 1897 as 'Souvenir of Wootton'.
Class:
Hybrid Tea, Tea.  
Bloom:
Crimson, carmine-pink edges.  Moderate fragrance.  Very large, double (17-25 petals), cupped, globular bloom form.  Occasional repeat later in the season.  
Habit:
Bushy.  Dark green, leathery foliage.  
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).  
Patents:
Patent status unknown (to HelpMeFind).
Notes:
Different parentages have been reported. Hybridizer John Cook himself described Louis van Houtte as the "pollen bearer" of Souvenir of Wootton. See References.
Different clones are in commerce. 'Reine des Violettes' is sometimes sold as 'Souvenir of Wootton'.
