Does the Fame Parade rose need to be grown in a pot or can I set it outside in Oklahoma?

I received several Fame Parade roses in a pot as a Valentine's gift and transplanted them to my garden where they have done very well with normal care for over four years. I live in Michigan-Zone 5. The only protection from the winter they ever had was snowfall. They would die back to about four inches, but bounce right back and bloom very nice all summer. Another nice thing about Fame Parade is that Japanese Beetles seem to have no interest in them, a plus in Michigan where the Japanese beetle problem is rampant.
