Origin:
Discovered by Bazard (France, before 1824). Introduced in France by Jean-Pierre Vibert in before 1824 as 'Pompon Bazard'.
Class:
Alba, Centifolia, Gallica / Provins, Species Cross.
Bloom:
Light pink, lighter edges. Mild fragrance. Small to medium, very double bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.
Habit:
Small, light green foliage.
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default).

Notes:
Brent Dickerson cites Pompon Bazard in his book, The Old Rose Adventurer, p. 30, in the description of Sommesson's 'Abailard'. Said to be similar, but deeper in colour. Was probably similar to the earlier 'Pompon blanc'. Noisette states that 'Azelia' has the same form and colour as 'Pompon Bazard'.
