'Queen of Denmark' rose References
Book (Apr 1993) Page(s) 494. Reine de Dänemark Damask, light pink, ('Queen of Denmark'); Possibly Damask x Centifolia hybrid; Miellez, 1826...
Book (1936) Page(s) 103. The Damask Roses. Queen of Denmark Near Thulite pink and rose pink, very double; no anthers, darker centre, medium; pistils downy, separate, bud pointed when young, faint scent. Pedicel and hip very glanded, also calyx, which is beyond bud 1/4 in., wings very glanded and fine. Leaves pale, down-curved, downy below; petiole glanded and curved thorns. Wood green, very many large red hooked thorns and small ones. This I consider is an Alba-Damask hybrid, the thorns and down from the latter and foliage and flower from Alba. A very attractive and hardy sort. It was known in 1840 and must not be confused with a China of the same name introduced in 1899
