Mr. S. J. Bisdee. Tasmanian Rose Notes.
I am looking forward to enjoying Vera Allen when a larger bush. It is a good pink and comes almost apricot in summer. It gives promise of free growth.

Vera Allen A choice novelty in shades of pink and primrose in a blending of colours which is definitely distinct. Light rose shadings on a solid primrose base with hydrangea-pink and cream on the reverse.

Mr. S. J. Bisdee.  Roses in Tasmania
Vera Allen: A Rose of lovely form and colour; pink blended with primrose. A very promising exhibition Rose and nicely scented.  Growth will need to improve, but I think it will, for elsewhere it is reported excellent.
Book  (1942)  Page(s) 13.

R. Marion Hatton.  The World's Novelties.
Alex Dickson have two...  and Vera Allen.  Vera Allen made good growth and furnished compact four-inch blooms of silvery flesh outer petals and a peach centre, the reverse coppery pink, the whole ageing pale silvery pink. There were about 80 petals and a mild scent. Neither of these will create much excitement.

p112.  Mr. Allen A. Brundrett.  The New Importations of 1940
Vera Allen, H.T. (A. Dickson and Sons, Ireland).-The colour is a delicate combination of light pink and primrose, and some excellent, slow-opening exhibition specimens, with high pointed centres and well reflexed petals, have been produced.  The large broad petals number 30-40, and the buds are quite firm.

p118. Mr. T. G. Stewart.  The 1940 Novelties.
Judging from the exhibition standpoint the next in favour is Mama Pechtold, with Vera Allen next. Neither variety has shown anything distinctive in colour, but both appear to be good growers, producing well formed exhibition type blooms. Vera Allen has a very long bud which opens to a bloom of the style of Mrs. Chas. Lamplough in form. Unfortunately, in my opinion, the bloom is a bit heavy and coarse, lacking the refinement required in a really good exhibition Rose.
