‘Anne Cocker’ = Floribunda… Cocker, UK, 1970.

Anne Cocker Floribunda. Cocker (UK) 1970. Description... The color has neither true orange nor pink in it, so the official coding is misleading. It is an eye-catching scarlet, rich and bright... It was named for the raiser's wife, who herself has bred many fine varieties...

Anne Cocker An elegant floribunda, bearing a mass of small blooms of a most unusual hue, perfectly complemented by the bronze foliage. They appear to radiate a soft orange-vermilion light. The colour is constant in all weathers and the flowers are long lasting even when cut. A fine Rose. Healthy and vigorous. Tall. Cocker 1971.

Three other Certificate of Merit winners complete my dozen. 'Anne Cocker' ('Highlight x 'Konigin der Rosen'), raised by Alec Cocker, is quite distinct from other modern floribundas, with light vermilion, small-petalled full flowers (36 petals) carried erect in trusses on upright, vigorous growth. An outstanding characteristic of the flowers is that they last an unusually long time, both on the plant and when cut, without showing any marked change in condition. Another peculiarity is that it comes into flower later than most modem flotibundas, and provides a bright patch of colour when most of the others are past their best. The foliage is reddish when young, plentiful and fairly free of disease.
