The only German novelty was Kordes' Magic Red, a low growing plant, with old-fashioned double flowers of bright red which darken with age. Lovers of the old Hybrid Perpetuals will admire this Rose, but will be disappointed in its disagreeable odour. It is a generous bloomer for the size of the plant.

Kordes had Magic Red with three and a half inch blooms of blood red. My notes say 50 petals and very little scent. The flowers were quite good but they were scarce after June.
