Origin:

Bred by Rudolf Geschwind (1829-1910) (Austria-Hungary (former), before 1893).
Introduced in Germany by J. C. Schmidt / Blumenschmidt in 1893 as 'Himmelsauge'.
Introduced in Australia by Hawter’s Nurseries in 1909 as 'Heaven's Eye'.

Class:

Hybrid Setigera.

Bloom:

Carmine-red, ages to purple . Strong fragrance. Average diameter 2.5". Medium, very full (41+ petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters bloom form. Once-blooming spring or summer.

Habit:

Climbing, upright.

Height: up to 9'10" (up to 300cm).

Growing:

USDA zone 4b through 9b. Hardy. very vigorous.
