Isn't this GABRIELLE not Gabriel? Which is truly correct? All reference material I have in my collection and several nurseries selling this rose I've encountered refer to the name as the female Gabrielle Noyelle. Not the masculine "Gabriel" like the angel as listed by HMF. However; it seems that just as many references and sources refer to this rose as "Gabriel".
It is correctly named 'Gabriel Noyelle', named after a friend of the breeder. All of the references contemporary with its introduction spelled it that way, and later references that noted its derivation did the same. Its name was only improperly feminized later.
Sequoia Nursery does carry this rose. Their plants are small, own root. but they seem to have good healthy stock . I have ordered several roses from them and all have been successes.
