....from then [1916] until his retirement from Bees in 1944 he [J.C. Thornton]  introduced over 40 rose varieties, of which the best known were probably "Maud E. Gladstone", "Queen of Bath," and "Col. C. Watson".

Col. Campbell Watson, a one-year-old plant, grew strongly. It lacks brilliance in colour, which is a rather dull pink so far. It also wants a few more petals.

Col. Campbell Watson: The bloom is beautifully formed, giving promise of exhibition qualities. The colour is a nice shade of pink and the growth appears to be good.
