Book (1940) Page(s) 125. Mr. Frank Mason. The Newer Roses in New Zealand Mrs. Ed. Laxton is a splendid bedding Rose, and I think that I like it better than Margaret McGredy. There is something of Shot Silk about its growth, and it will be a good companion to that fine old Rose.

It was a beautiful bit of colour and had nice healthy foliage. If it grows well it should be much sought after. I was very taken with it, and will try it out myself.

A very fine seedling from that well known variety 'Shot Silk'. the blooms which are freely produced, are of a moderate size, and inclined to be a Little flat in shape. The colour is ochre red, fading to pink. The habit is very vigorous. Foliage a light green, wood dark green. Prickles rather profuse. A very fine bedding variety. its fragrance is not very pronounced; but for that it would have received a higher award. Awarded a Second Class Trial Ground Certificate.
