Bobbink & Atkins catalog, 1938 LAL. HT. (W. Easlea & Sons, 1933.) Artistic buds and high-centered flowers of soft silvery pink with a rich yellow suffusion extending upward from the base of the petals. Exquisitely perfumed. This Rose has a great future because of the quantity of attractive flowers produced. It is an exceptionally fine Rose for cutting. Flowers last longer than any other Rose we know. $1.25 each.

The parentage of this rose is 0843 x Commonwealth, according to Walter Easlea's notes on the margin of The Rosenlexicon which is now owned by the curator of the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden. See the Central Coast Heritage Rose Group webpage at http://members.cruzio.com/~perry/easlea

Lal on own root seems so far to be very vigorous and disease free in New Orleans.

Lal was named by Walter Easlea after his wife Harriet Ada Easlea (nee Allen). This is what he used to call her. Walter and Ada Easlea are my great grandparents.
