Prinzessin Hildegard (von Bayern) (Hybrid Tea) (P. Lambert 1914). I have observed this seedling since several years, tested, and this year exhibited it for the first time. In Bagatelle and Paris, where 5 plants are planted out, she was the delight of the Head of this Test garden and of the visitors. The Gold Medal, as best Rose by A Foreigner, was applied for, but one vote was missing in the count, she received the Certificate of Merit No. 1. She was a surprise for all visitors at the great Rose Exhibition in Zweibrücken and Her Royal Highness Princesse Hildegard took the godmother role with evident happiness. The shrub is quite strong, broad and tall (see picture), has firm thick wood and strong prickles, broad glossy foliage. The bloom is very large, very well filled, light yellow, sometimes pure sulphur-yellow in the centre, passing to cream-yellow. The bud develops slowly but surely to the magnificent, lasting, mildly fragrant blooms, which appear on firm, straight stems, mostly on the old wood of the previous year. A short pruning of the shrub is therefore not appropriate. Some 5-6 year old 1 1/2 - 2 m high plants in my rose garden have each brought forward over 100 blooms during the first flush. In autumn, the blooms appear more occasionally and are darker in colour. The shrub has an effect as single plant or as an espalier rose and needs more space than Frau K. Druschki. Cut or exhibition rose! Good as container forcing rose! (Frau K. Druschki X Friedr. Harms). Strong 2-year old garden range plants on March 1, 1915.
