A disappointment for humid heat. A very weak, sorry, BS magnet that had one poor single flower. It's not worth growing and just got shoveled. I cannot recommend this rose for anyone.
I got the Golden Masterpiece at home depot two seasons ago. The first year it had blooms on it. The second season it had no blooms or bud and I don't see any buds this year. Last year I thought the problem might be it was bit shaded and had no mulch. I added the mulch(cedar) and cut the surrounding spirea's down around it.
So far this summer it has grown quite tall...seems to be thriving actually but no buds. Anyone have any ideas as to what is going on?
Where are you gardening? Your rose may have midge. Please see the Oregon State website and cut and paste this link: http://oregonstate.edu/dept/nurspest/rose_midge.htm
I recently purchased a rose labeled Golden Masterpiece from Home Depot as a potted rose. This thing has a serious set of thorns on it, but I can't see any similar thorns in the photos on this listing. Can anyone confirm whether this is a known trait of Golden Masterpiece?
Your question made me curious, so I looked up the patent on Google. I have added the plant characteristics from the patent to the rose page for 'Golden Masterpiece'. (I don't always have time to provide this search and you can do it yourself by using the patent number on the rose page when it is available.) Yes, according to the patent, this rose has "many thorns".
