This rose has been used quite extensively in the Kojonup Australian Rose Maze at Kodja Place, Kojonup, Western Australia. When we were visiting there recently (in late spring), 'Ida Elizabeth' was looking superb. The plants looked strong and healthy with a generous flush of large blooms. The colour was very clear, strong and bright but not jarring - it contrasted very well with the foliage, and the paler petal reverses had a slightly softening effect - welcome in the bright sunlight. It looked like a very good decorative plant.
'Generous' is the word that comes to mind when I recall the rose - foliage, blooms, the whole plant. I'm interested to know whether it is as good through other seasons.

I saw it at Kodja Place in April, 2008 (autumn) and my notes from that day say:
" 'Ida Elizabeth' is a huge big fat red rose, it reminds me of an ‘Ena Harkness’ but with a silver back and the petals rolling back down a la ‘La France’ fashion."
You have reminded me that I promised myself I would buy it.
