'Gloire de France' 1828. I had grown this beautiful form for many years before being sent it under the name of 'Fanny Bias' by Will Tillotson of Watsonville, California. The old French descriptions of either name would apply. It is a low-growing variety, covered with wonderfully double flowers, so filled with neat reflexing petals as to make a large pompon. The colour is a warm lilac-rose, the centre retaining its tone while the circumference rapidly fades to lilac-white. A pretty shrub up to 4 feet, and full of charm.
