Source site www.rogersroses.com: synonym for Brian Rix is ‘The Mencap Rose’

I bought this rose some years ago from a nursery at Saetre in Hurum near Oslo. I hadn`t even heard about it when the owner of the nursery Mrs. Gerd Anvik recommended it. Since I like to try out new and unknown varieties, I decided on this one being as it is a shrub which I tend to favour. It is supposed to be very disease resistant. Frankly I am not quite sure if I agree. I had thought this rose done for. Having suffered a heavy attack of blackspot there was nothing left of the rose last summer. Imagine my surprise when I now in 2009 discovered some roses inbetween the red ones of Robin Hood which looked quite different. I was very happy to realise that this must be the Brian Rix I had thought lost. I hope for a good developement in the years to come.
