Origin:
Bred by William Paul (1822-1905) (United Kingdom, 1885).
Introduced in Australia by C. F. Newman and Sons - Adelaide in 1894 as 'Waltham Climber No. 1'.

Bloom:
Crimson - pink, light purple reverse.  Strong fragrance.  Large, double (17-25 petals), borne mostly solitary, in small clusters, scalloped bloom form.  Blooms in flushes throughout the season.

Climbing, few or no prickles/thorns.  Large foliage.  

Height: up to 8'2" (up to 250cm).  
Growing:
USDA zone 7a through 9a.  Hardy.  vigorous.
