'Sonrisa' rose Description

ARS:
Dark red Hybrid Tea. Registration name: Sonrisa (hybrid tea, Swim & Weeks 1969) Exhibition name: Sonrisa
Bloom:
Violet-red. Strong, damask fragrance. 48 to 50 petals. Average diameter 5.25". Large, very full (41+ petals), borne mostly solitary, cluster-flowered, in large clusters, high-centered bloom form. Blooms in flushes throughout the season.
Habit:
Tall, armed with thorns / prickles, bushy, upright. Dark green, leathery foliage.
Growing:
USDA zone 6b through 9b (default). Can be used for cut flower or garden. Very vigorous.
Notes:
Modern Roses 12 lists Plant Patent # 3007 for 'Sonrisa', which is the patent number for 'Bienvenu'. The correct Plant Patent # is 3010
Modern Roses 10 gives an introduction date of 1969 for 'Sonrisa' while Herb Swim, in his book Roses - From Dreams To Reality, states that the rose was introduced in 1971
