MEILLAND INTERNATIONAL

"To celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Peace Rose, also called 'Mme A. Meilland' in France, 'Gloria Dei' in Germany and 'Goia' in Italy, the House of Meilland wishes to rename a rose known by rose lovers worldwide".
"A direct descendant of the Peace rose, Baipeace has the best features: from its beauty to the robustness of its vegetation. These characteristics have enabled it to win numerous distinctions such as the All-America Rose Selection (AARS) award in 2002. Baipeace 'Oriental Peace' thus perpetuates the long tradition at Meilland of exceptional roses bearing constantly renewed stories," the Meilland team states.
"This climbing version produces the same classic-shaped roses as the shrub rose from which it originates. It also reflowers during the season. After first blooming in May-June, new roses appear regularly throughout the summer until it blooms again in autumn. Endowed with great vigor, the climbing rose 'Oriental Peace' Baipeacesar spreads its long, climbing branches widely, reaching over 2.5 to 3 meter in height and covering an area of 12 to 15 m²".

btw, I always wondered whether 'Oriental Peace' might be related with the Russian-Ukraine war in Eastern Europe.

I think love and peace has short lasting flowers? I had a good flower and I had misplaced the camera, the next day I went to photograph love and peace and the flower was over.

Typical of color-changing roses. They are highly influenced by the sun, in almost all aspects.

Yes, I have had a problem with hot sun speeding up the dead of my flowers on each bush, expect for St. Patrick's Day. Right now, I basically have flowerless bushes expect for Patrick's Day.

Marilyn Monroe is equally resistant to heat as St. Patrick, if you like peach colors.

My hypothesis is that the other parent of this rose is Silver Jubilee and another rose, possibly Classic Beauty. And my hypothesis of that rose is that it is likely the product of Flaming Beauty and Double Perfection.

Edit: I'm going to alter my hypothesis that the other parent is All That Jazz (Silver Jubilee is a parent of that, even though it shows undisclosed, because he stated such in an ARS magazine from the 1990s), despite the patent claiming seedling (rarely ever true anyway lol).

I want so much to buy this rose. But I want an own-root plant. I'm tired of purchasing half a plant, I'm convinced that own-root plants do so much better in Texas heat on their own roots--to say nothing about our extreme freezes and thaws. Please, if anyone knows where I can purchase an own-root Love and Peace, let me know.
